A total of 2,000 people coming from Ethiopia passed the borderline with Kenya to ask for shelter in this country after a shooting in the city of Moyale in which nine civilians died.

The Ethiopian governmental forces killed nine civilians in Moyale by mistake, after they confused these people with members of the Oromo Liberation Front, a group considered as terrorist by the local authorities.

The press said the Ethiopian displaced people are located in four centers in Kenya with family kits including canvas, cooking items, soup, mosquito nets and others. Most of the displaced people are women and children who were in fear for the possibility of a greater disorder as a result of the shooting.

Nevertheless, an investigation was started by the Ethiopian government to know about the causes of the incident.

Immediately after the start of the investigation the five Ethiopian soldiers who were involved, were arrested.
