Chadian General Mahamat Kodo Bani and an Equatorial Guinean former Sergeant recognized as Abassolo, could possibly be behind the tried coup towards Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, media stories stated today.

Kodo Bani was a general of the Chadian Military between 1990 and 2005, and together with the Equatorial Guinean sergeant, Abassol could be accountable for configuring the coup attempt against the president in Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang, based on the Association for Democratic Solidarity with Equatorial Guinea (ASODEGUE).

In accordance with Cameroonian media, Abassolo defected from the Equatorial Guinea military in 1983 and moved to america in 2000.

The Equatorial Guinean authorities reported last Thursday that they hindered a coup supposedly promoted by the chief of the opposition party Citizens for Innovation (CI), Gabriel Nsé Obiang Obono.

Later he introduced himself to a group of mercenaries of Chadian, Cameroonian and Central African origin, who had been accused of involvement with the coup attempt, together with nationals that they indicated as accomplices.

The conspiracy in Kye-Ossi, on the border with Cameroon, was neutralized by members of the safety forces of Equatorial Guinea and according to the Cameroonian police, the Chadian general Kodo Bani was arrested with a major amount of cash last Friday.
