Member of the advisory committee of the electoral commission, Amina Zakari, sister of the outgoing president, was appointed head of the center of compilation of results of the Nigerian presidential next February. The opposition displeased.
The National Independent Electoral Commission ( INEC ) proceeded on Thursday, January 3 to the establishment of an advisory committee for the organization of general elections, including the presidential election of February 16.
The organ will be headed by Vice-Marshal Ahmed Tijani. While the compilation center will be piloted by Amina Zakari. And a delicate task awaits the former Director of Operations of INEC . “This center will serve as a secretariat for the compilation of results and a place to inform international observers and the media,” said Mahmood Yakubu, president of INEC .
So it is the biological sister of the outgoing President Muhammadu Buhari who will unveil the name of the winner. This gives free rein to criticism from the opposition.
“Buhari’s sister at INEC , Amina Zakari, who was dismissed from her position as director of operations appointed head of the results compilation center. Understand my skepticism about the transparency of these elections, “lamented on Twitter, Jackson Ude, a member of the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP , opposition) of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
And last year, the former ruling party warned that the Buhari government was considering using Zakari to “rig” the presidential election for the current tenant of Aso-Rock Villa.
