The National Assembly lifted the parliamentary immunity of John Ntumba and thus authorized the justice to continue the judicial information against the Minister of Professional Training, accused of embezzlement of public funds related to the case of the management of funds of ” 100 days program ”.
The information collected by the public prosecutor’s office from the Kinshasa-Matete Court of Appeal reveals that John Ntumba, then a member of the monitoring committee of ” 100 days program “, Would have received from José Ngunda Mulumbu, chief accountant to the Presidency of the Republic, on July 18, 2019, a sum of more than 1.3 million dollars intended for the Monitoring Committee of the said program.
And, according to the indictment of the Attorney General, the destination given to this sum remains to be determined. For the prosecutor, these facts may constitute the offense of embezzlement of public funds.
National Assembly favors prosecution
The Political, Administrative and Legal Commission of the National Assembly, for its part, was largely in favor of authorizing the prosecution of the minister by accepting the lifting of his parliamentary immunity.
At this stage, he will be able to fulfill his functions as minister. John Ntumba is a member of the Union for the Congolese Nation (UNC), the party of Vital Kamerhe, director of cabinet of Félix Tshisekedi, also prosecuted in the framework of the management of the funds of the emergency program.
