A city fit for the pharaohs? Egypt’s new capital emerges from the desert

Out of the desert 50 km from Cairo, the new Egyptian administrative capital recalls the vast construction projects of the former rulers of the country, but wants to be at the forefront of town planning. Built entirely from scratch at a cost of around $ 45 billion, the city will provide space for more than 6 million residents, relieving pressure on the sprawling metropolis of Cairo.
