Reducing Dependence on Coal: South Africa’s Energy Challenge


The COP26 climate conference in Glasgow is entering the final hours of what should be difficult negotiations. In order to reduce carbon emissions, a key goal is to end coal. South Africa is among the countries that have made a commitment to phase out this highly polluting fossil fuel. But on the ground, coal mines are booming.
