South Africa detects new variant of C.1.2 coronavirus


In tonight’s edition: South African researchers are closely monitoring infection rates with a new variant of the C.1.2 coronavirus. It is only present at low levels in the country but its mutations are similar to hyper transmissible strains like Delta. And three months after the Nyiragongo volcanic eruption in DR Congo, thousands of people are still stranded in makeshift shelters and lack food and water.
