This Sunday, July 18, Jean-Luc Mélenchon begins a 4-day visit to Burkina Faso. France’s insubordinate presidential candidate therefore intends to improve its position on the African continent. And the choice to go to Ouagadougou, the site of Emmanuel Macron’s call for new relations between France and Africa, is of course not innocent.
“It’s time to put an end to imperialism, neocolonialism, paternalism …”. The refrain has often been heard, but Jean-Luc Mélenchon wants to convince Africans about it: he is president, he will do differently. And Insubordinate did not choose Burkina Faso by chance as a step in its campaign.

“I will meet there officials who are involved in the civil revolution and I will speak at the mausoleum dedicated to Thomas Sankara, a source of inspiration for political uprising.”
Another tribute Thomas sankara and a speech scheduled for Wednesday at the University of Ouagadougou. Common points with Emmanuel Macron’s visit2017 is obviously not a coincidence.

“If I am elected in 2022, it will be said this time in Ouagadougou to serve as a common thread.”
No question for Jean-Luc Mélenchon to be content with symbolic measures, such as the restoration of works of art initiated by Emmanuel Macron. Among his expected positions in Ouagadougou: criticism of Paris’ unconditional support for dictatorial regimes on the continent. But also the desire to reconsider France’s military and migration policy.
