justice rejects the request for release

The Court for the Suppression of Economic Crime and Terrorism on Friday rejected the request for the provisional release of the opponent Reckya Madougou, and the rejection decision was sent to his lawyers on Saturday. On July 9, the French lawyer Pierre Stasi went to Cotonou and submitted this request to his Beninese colleagues, given that “the file was empty and their client was placed in total isolation in the Missérété prison.

as reported from Cotonou, Jean-Luc Aplogan

The order was issued on Friday and announced to the six lawyers defending Reckya Madougou. There are two reasons for the decision.

First, the president of the Freedom Chamber and the accusers point out that the accusations against the accused are serious. Secondly, she claims that the opponent and her co-defendants have only been questioned once and that the various statements require further questioning and even confrontation.

The information was taken to Reckya Madougoudin’s cell.

We were also told on Friday that the same committee decided to call the opponent next Thursday for a second hearing.

For their part, the lawyers did not comment on the dismissal decision. Master PierreStasi leaves Cotonou a week ago said “if our request is denied we will do it again.”
