Morocco and Algeria added to France’s Covid-19 red list

France has added Morocco and Algeria to its list of countries considered to be areas at high risk for Covid-19. The measure means that from Saturday, people arriving from either country will be subject to more stringent protocols, including self-isolation. A recent increase in the number of cases in Morocco means that it is almost impossible to find an intensive care bed in most hospitals.

Also in this edition, Nigeria passed a long-awaited bill to overhaul its oil and gas industry. The Oil Industry Bill, first introduced in parliament in 2008, is expected to attract more foreign investment and aims to meet the demands of local communities in Nigeria’s oil-producing states. Some have praised the move, but critics say it doesn’t go far enough.
