While Laurent Gbagbo received representatives of the Wê people, from the western part of the country, at Mama’s home, Pascal Affi N’Guessan crossed his Moronou region. A tour of “explanations” for the president of FPI law, necessary after the clear break with the former head of state.
as reported from Abidjan, Pierre Pinto
Pascal Affi N’Guessan ended his tour at home in Moronou on Sunday. Five days to explain to their “parents”, as they say in the Ivory Coast, the break with Laurent Gbagbo, the party’s founder. It must be said that Pascal Affi N’Guessan and his fringe FPI play their game. For several months, the party has not been at its best. “Affi” is the only elected member of his education in the recent legislative elections, and several people have left him, such as Jean Bonin Kouadio or recently Konaté Navigué in particular.
Without waiting and preparing for his November congress, Pascal Affi N’Guessan will send 74 delegations to dozens of federations across the country to try to prevent a bleed of leaders and activists to the camp opposite. Opposite, that is, the new party that Laurent Gbagbo will create in just over a month. The former head of state really wanted to avoid a confrontation in court to recover the party he founded. “Let’s leave Affi with the envelope he is holding. We will change our name, that’s all, ”he explained during a central committee in mid-August, and also called on satellite formations, such as Stéphane Kiprés UNG, Danièle Boni Claverie’s Foreign Ministry or Foreign Minister Anaky Kobenan to join him.
Pascal Affi N’Guessan, he tried a beat by calling in public Simone gbagbo to gather him. The former president’s wife is one of the founders of the FPI. And Simone Ehivet, as she now calls herself, was publicly humiliated by her husband, who hurried to file for divorce when he returned to Côte d’Ivoire. The mocked wife then saw her popularity rise, especially among women. Pascal Affi N’Guessan turned in a dismal performance, however. The relationship between these two personalities has always been notoriously difficult.
Since 2014, REIT has been divided into two. On the one hand, the fringe led by Pascal Affi N’Guessan recognized by the courts with the right to use the party’s name and logo. And on the other, the one who was called “Gbagbo or nothing”, remained loyal to the former president and who boycotted all elections. Laurent Gbagbo therefore goes with this fringe that has remained loyal to him to create a new party, which can spell the end of the FPI.
