Sankara murder trial: Compaoré’s absence is a “shame”,


Thomas Sankara’s widow, Mariam Sankara, had to flee Burkina Faso with her two children after the 1987 assassination. She is now back in Ouagadougou for the opening of the trial. The former first lady told FRANCE 24 that the absence of former President Blaise Compaoré, the main suspect, was a “shame”. “I really hope this trial will shed some light,” she added.
