In a series of decrees published on Tuesday evening, October 12, the President of the Guinean Transition, Colonel Mamadi Doumbouya, made major changes in the upper military hierarchy. The pillars of the deposed former regime Alpha Condé were simply retired by Conakry’s new champion.

A total of 42 generals have been affected by this major upheaval in the General Staff and the various organs of the army. General Namory Traoré, the army chief, was replaced by Colonel Sadiba Koulibaly, until its commander of the command training center for peacekeeping operations in Kindia, 130 km east of Conakry.
The Commander-in-Chief of the National Gendarmerie, General Ibrahima Baldé, was also replaced by Colonel Balla Samoura, Chief of the Gendarmerie in Conakry’s Special Zone.
General Sékouba Konaté also retired In the other corps, from the army to the navy, through the air force and the army general inspectorate, all holders of these positions and their deputies were automatically retired and replaced by young high-ranking officers who knew little about the public.
Former president of the military transition from 2009 to 2010, General Sékouba Konaté is also one of the retired generals. These changes in the military come as Guineans eagerly await the appointment of the next government.
