Antonio Conte opens the door to Serie A returns

Tottenham head coach Antonio Conte has expressed his joy that the former club Inter are happy without him, and has opened the door to a return to Serie A in the future.

Contes Inter broke Juventus’ grip on Scudetto last season and ended Bianconeri’s series of nine straight titles – a run he started in 2012. He left the San Siro in the summer after clashing with the board over transfers and was offered Spurs the job immediately, but declined. before he eventually started in November.

Conte spoke to Sky Sport Italia and revealed that he follows Inter’s progress under Simone Inzaghi, and teased that he could return to Italy in the future to help another Serie A team overcome the odds.

“I am pleased with Inter’s consistency as they continue what we have done best,” said Conte after Spurs’ 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on the second day.

“I can only praise them, I think they have the basis to stay up there for a long time.

“Maybe one day I could return to reverse the predictions again.”

Conte is already hugely popular with Tottenham fans. Spurs are now undefeated in their six Premier League matches with the Italian tactician at the helm, which soars to the top of the table and forces itself back into the battle for a Champions League place.

Spurs reached the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over local rival West Ham, with Conte’s former club Chelsea waiting for them in the next round.

Conte aims to end Tottenham’s 14-year trophy drought, during which time eight managers have tried and failed to deliver silver.
