Antonio Conte worried about the “serious” Cristian Romero injury ahead of the next scan

Antonio Conte has admitted that he is worried about the severity of Cristian Romero’s hoarding injury while Tottenham are waiting for the latest scan results.

Romero has already established himself as Spurs’ best midfielder and looks to play a big role in his coach’s set-up, but an injury he suffered in an international match with Argentina has put him on the sidelines for an indefinite period.

Ahead of Tottenham’s Europa League match with NS Mura, Conte said: “We are waiting for a new scan. Honestly, I think his injury is serious, I do not know now when he needs to recover.

“We have to wait for the next scan and then the doctor can provide more information about the date of his recovery.

“I’m not thinking [signing another defender in] January because there is a long way to go, we have many matches to play and I also want to make my evaluations about the squad and the players.

“Now I am very focused on the present as the present is very important to me. I need to make many evaluations about the whole squad and then we will see what happens.”

Conte has confirmed that there will be rotation in other positions, with Ryan Sessegnon set at left back.

He added: “All available players will come with us and they must be ready to play. I have to do rotation because there are players who are a little tired because they played many matches with the national team and we also worked a lot in the last two weeks. “

Spurs will be without Giovani Lo Celso in Slovenia, while young striker Dane Scarlett will not join either. The Europa Conference League is probably Tottenham’s best chance to win silver this season and Conte admitted that they are aiming for improvement and success.

“We want to build something important and try to lift trophies together, this must be our goal,” said the former Inter and Chelsea boss.

“In England it is not easy because the other teams are very, very strong but I know we can improve a lot. If you ask me how much time we need before it happens it is very difficult to tell this. In our heart And think, this must be our inspiration and we will try to do this for the good of the club.

“I have found a group of players who want to work and improve and this is a good place for me. I can come to any club and I want to bring my ideas, but if you do not have the players’ ability, it is impossible. “I have seen positive things in Tottenham and have felt good vibes. This is a good place to start.”
