Arsenal win the award for the October WSL player and manager of the month

Arsenal have completed a clean sweep of Barclays WSL’s monthly awards for October, with Katie McCabe winning the Player of the Month award and Jonas Eidevall named Manager of the Month.

It is already the second time this season that the table top Gunners take both individual awards, where Eidevall retains his award for best manager and McCabe follows Beth Mead who combed home the player gong in September.

Eidevall has made a huge impact since he was appointed Arsenal manager this summer. His team maintained its 100% WSL winning record in October and took maximum points from its two league games during the month.

Arsenal scored seven goals and kept a clean sheet in their games against Aston Villa and Everton, and went into the international break in October three points ahead of rivals Chelsea.

At the same time, McCabe scored in Arsenal’s two WSL victories in October and each was an early challenger to the season’s goals. Against Villa it was an intelligent lobby from 40 yards, while the Irish international struck a fantastic self-assisted volley against Everton.

An assist for Lotte Wubben-Moy to score in the latter only made her impression in October further.

The 26-year-old is also vying to win the PFA Vertu Motors WSL fans’ award of the month – McCabe has been nominated along with teammates Wubben-Moy and Kim Little, Manchester United duo Hannah Blundell and Ella Toone, and Chelsea’s Fran Kirby – who won priced in September.
