Chelsea: Predicted lineup against Burnley

Chelsea resume their Premier League promotion on Saturday afternoon and host Burnley at Stamford Bridge.

Thomas Tuchel’s men have every reason to feel confident and aim for their eighth straight win in all competitions. The Blues have most recently defeated Malmö in the Champions League to almost mathematically secure their place in the round of 16 and have won their previous four in the Premier League – currently three points ahead of the top of the table.

As many as 17 places below them are Saturday’s visitors Burnley, who have lost five and drawn four of their first ten league games. They most recently took their first win of the campaign – a 3-1 win over Brentford – although they are still three points away from safety.

Here’s who Tuchel could go out with to win this (wrong) match.

Edouard Mendy (GK) – Mendy, arguably the best goalkeeper on the planet right now, has only conceded three league goals this season.

Cesar Azpilicueta (CB) – The always reliable Spaniard just does not disappoint. So consistent, so reliable, so brilliant.

Thiago Silva (CB) – Somehow this man is 37 years old. Still one of the best there is.

Antonio Rudiger (CB) – Has developed into one of the best defenders across the continent since Tuchel came to the helm.

Reece James (RWB) – Simply breathtaking when he is at his best in child storming. Definitely one of the – if not the – best right-backs in the football world, who wants to build on four goals and three assists in the Premier League so far this season.

Jorginho (CM) – The conductor at the heart of the page, Jorginho, will inevitably see a lot of the ball on Saturday. Very.

N’Golo Kante (CENTIMETER) – Have fought for match condition this campaign but started Chelsea’s last league outing and were rested in the middle of the week, so should come back to the group.

Ben Chilwell (LWB) – In sensational form at the moment. Will be happy to score his fourth goal in five Premier League matches on Saturday.

Callum Hudson-Odoi (RW) – Was excellent in the middle of the week; just his fantastic assist means he deserves a fresh start this weekend.

Kai Havertz (ST) – With both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner absent with injury, it will likely fall on Havertz to lead the line again.

Hakim Ziyech (LW) – Seems to be enjoying his football at the moment and should be ready for a fresh start after his winning goal against Malmö.
