Chelsea are unlikely to loan or sell Timo Werner or Hakim Ziyech in January despite interest from Barcelona, with Thomas Tuchel wanting to avoid weakening his team mid-season.
Although Ziyech has been a marginal figure since Tuchel arrived at Stamford Bridge in January, he has had a long run in the team recently as a result of injuries and has found form – scoring two goals and giving three assists since early November.
90min revealed last month that the Moroccan was looking for an exit from Stamford Bridge, but his increased playing time and improved performance on the pitch will likely make him stay.
At the same time, Werner’s first-team chances have diminished somewhat since Romelu Lukaku’s arrival, but he has still been fairly regular under his compatriot except for the month he stepped aside with a hoarding problem.
Both Blues forwards have been linked with Barcelona recently, as Xavi looks set to strengthen its front line in January. But according to Sport, the chances that Chelsea let one of the players leave are small because Tuchel is “reluctant” to let the first team players leave.

Barcelona initially had promising talks with club director Marina Granovskaia, but since then Tuchel has intervened and expressed his desire that the club will not make any sales in the upcoming transfer window.
Barça do not have much room to maneuver in January, with the club’s financial problems well documented. Because of this, all arrivals will likely be loans, although the club has also been linked with a move for Manchester City’s Ferran Torres.
Before he suffered a foot injury in international service, Torres had impressed in a false nine-role. Xavi is believed to be a big fan of the player, but the difference in the two clubs’ values is significant.
Barcelona obviously can not go higher than 40 million euros, and City want significantly more for a player they signed for just over half of 2020.
Blaugrana is also considering a cheap move for Manchester United’s veteran striker Edinson Cavani. Cavani’s minutes have been limited due to injury and the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo this season, although the Uruguayan is believed to be happy at Old Trafford at the moment.
