Dortmund leads the race for Angers star Mohamed-Ali Cho

Borussia Dortmund are in pole position to sign Angers star Mohamed-Ali Cho, who remains on the radar for both Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.

Still only 17 years old, Cho is an integral part of the starting lineup in Angers. He has 18 Ligue 1 matches behind him and has contributed two goals while playing as both striker and right winger.

The young Frenchman, who spent five years at Everton before returning to his homeland in 2020, was nominated for the 2021 Golden Boy Award and is seen by many as a future star.

L’Equipe notes that Angers wants a “dream figure” of 40 million euros (33.5 million pounds) to sell Cho, whose contract expires in 2023, and although that type of fee is unlikely, there are a number of sites that hold an eye on the situation.

Chelsea have been linked with the teenager for several months now, while Southampton, Atletico Madrid and AC Milan have been hailed as possible suitors, but this report claims that it is Dortmund who are leading the charge.

Dortmund are said to be the only side that have registered concrete interest in Angers, and the two clubs continue to negotiate a potential deal for Cho.

The German side has spoken to Cho’s agent and the teenager is believed to be interested in moving to Signal Iduna Park in the near future.

The role offered to Cho is unclear. He primarily plays in the same position as Erling Haaland, who Dortmund hopes to keep at the club but is ready to lose due to the interest from virtually all top sides on the planet.

Dortmund are planning to change their attacking line-up in 2022 and also want to add Red Bull Salzburg’s Karim Adeyemi, another young striker who has made comparisons with Haaland.
