Eddie Howe finishes the staff in the back room of Newcastle United

Newcastle United have confirmed that Eddie Howe’s staff in the back room are now in place, including his former number two Jason Tindall.

Tindall’s arrival was the key to Howe agreeing on his contract, and even though Newcastle’s first offer was rejected, talks have since gone well.

Tindall has now put the pen to paper to tie in with his good friend Howe, and the former Bournemouth management team is joined by first-team coaches Stephen Purches and Simon Weatherstone – who were also part of their staff on the south coast.

Another signing from Bournemouth is sports researcher Dan Hodges, while Graeme Jones – who was part of Steve Bruce’s staff – remains at the club after being promised a role by Magpie’s new owner.

Newcastle have confirmed that the remaining members of Bruce’s staff have left the club, saying in a statement: “Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence, who came as assistants to Steve Bruce in July 2019, have left their roles after supporting Graeme Jones for an interim period .

“The club would like to express its sincere thanks to Steve and Stephen and wish them the best of luck in the future.”

Howe and his new back-room staff are already working hard in the north-east of the country, and they will take on their first match as head of Newcastle this weekend when they host Brentford at St. Johnstone. James’ Park.

Newcastle enter the match second from the bottom of the Premier League, five points from safety, and still without a win this season.
