Eden Hazard does not expect Real Madrid to leave in January

Eden Hazard is not expected to push for a move from Real Madrid during the summer, despite his continued struggle in minutes.

The 30-year-old has only started four La Liga matches this season and ended up behind the electric Vinicius Junior in the pick order. Manager Carlo Ancelotti has even publicly admitted that he prefers the young Brazilian nowadays.

These comments, along with weak links to Chelsea and Newcastle United, saw Ancelotti admit that he would not stand in Hazard’s way if he asked to leave the Santiago Bernabeu, but Marca does not expect that to happen.

The belief is that Hazard will not encourage an exit from the club in the middle of the season and he is only focused on finally proving himself to Real fans after years of frustration.

Hazard, who came from Chelsea in 2019 in a deal that could rise to 150 million pounds, has only scored five goals in 53 games, with repeated injuries and overwhelming form that has seen him fail to impress at the Bernabeu.

He had hoped to put these problems behind him this season, but Hazard’s progress has been completely blocked by Vinicius, who has been among Europe’s top players this season with a return of nine goals and five assists in 14 games.

Despite Ancelotti’s preference for using Vinicius, Hazard is not considered to have a bad relationship with the boss and is only focused on proving his worth to a manager who has dropped him straight down the notch.

But from Real’s perspective, they are now open to relieving Hazard. He remains on an expensive contract that expires in 2024 and Los Blancos would prefer to get rid of it in the near future, with big money for Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe hopefully on the horizon.

They want to get back some of the money they spent on Hazard and accept that they are unlikely to get it under the winter window, but they also do not want to weaken the depth of their squad ahead of a La Liga title push.

They will try to sell Hazard during the summer, but whether any sites are actually interested in recruiting him is unclear.
