Gabriel Slonina arouses interest from Serie A, the Bundesliga and La Liga

Chicago Fire goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina is the subject of serious interest from Europe, sources have said to 90min.

The 17-year-old made a remarkable rise at the end of the MLS season 2021, starting Fire’s last 11 games before established No.1 Bobby Shuttleworth.

During that time, Slonina held four zeros and made an average of 3.91 saves per 90 minutes, some of which were truly outstanding. Despite her young age, Slonina seems mature after her years, especially considering how he has handled the press from his position.

Slonina has since been rewarded with a couple of calls to the US men’s national team. Although he has not yet played for Gregg Berhalter’s team and is still qualified for Poland, he has nine internationals at various youth levels.

His excellent performances in MLS have not gone unnoticed across the Atlantic either. Sources have revealed for 90min that clubs from Serie A and the German Bundesliga are preparing bids for Slonina, while La Liga champions Atletico Madrid have already met the player’s representatives.

At this point, it is still unclear whether Slonina intends to leave Chicago this winter or not to take a step later after gaining further experience in MLS.

Regardless, Slonina is the latest in a long line of budding talents in MLS to draw attention to clubs in Europe, with Ricardo Pepi leaving FC Dallas for Augsburg and Daryl Dike switching Orlando City to West Brom just in January.

While Slonina has been involved in a training camp with USMNT, Fire has begun preparations for the 2022 MLS campaign, which they will begin away to Inter Miami on February 26.
