Hansi Flick leaves Bayern at the end of the season

Hansi Flick has announced that he will leave his position as Bayern Munich coach at the end of the season.

His future has been shrouded in doubt and controversy amid rumors linking him to a move to become the German national team coach, while there has been talk of a split in relations between himself and sports director Hasan Salihamidžić.

And Flick rocked the football world on Saturday afternoon by announcing that he is about to leave Bayern at the end of the season after the German champions’ 3-2 victory over Wolfsburg.

“I told the team today that I would like to get out of my contract this summer. I have already told those responsible after the Champions League knockout during the week, “TZ quotes.

“I wanted to tell the team personally. I also want to thank the club that gave me the opportunity to coach this team.”

Flick has been at the helm of Die Roten since the winter of 2019 and has led the German giants to an incredible treble in their debut campaign, and they look to defend their Bundesliga crown again this year. They sit seven points clear at the top of the table with only a handful of matches left, anything but securing their place at the top of the tree.

Flick’s departure will be a big blow for Bayern, after he took over during a rocky period in the club’s recent history under Niko Kovac. He now looks set to become German national team coach when Joachim Low retires after the Euro 2020 tournament this summer, which means that Die Roten is already looking for a new man to take over.

RB Leizpig coach Julian Nagelsmann is the strongest favorite to get the job, while Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has also been linked with the German giants.
