Hojbjerg helped the collapsed man outside Tottenham Stadium

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was on hand to help a man who had collapsed outside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night.

The Danish national team player was part of his national side during the European Championships 2020 when teammate Christian Eriksen collapsed on the pitch and drove home after the 3-0 loss against Manchester United when he saw the man.

The Daily Mail reports that the former Southampton midfielder was still at the scene before an on-site emergency vehicle arrived. The man was treated by medical staff and then taken to North Middlesex Hospital.

Hojbjerg is said to have been called a “hero” by the fans, although it is said that he toned down his role.

Just two weeks ago, Sergio Reguilon and Eric Dier were praised for their reaction to a home fan who was seen in distress during Spurs ‘3-2 win over Newcastle at St James’ Park. That match was stopped while the supporter got attention before it resumed.

Saturday night’s defeat against United turned out to be Nuno Espirito Santos’ last match as head of charge in north London, with Hojbjerg’s comments after the loss suggesting a cracked locker room. He said: “To show up like this, it is unacceptable. At home there should be fireworks and determination. It was not there. I should not say too much.”

Nuno was fired on Monday and Antonio Conte was quickly taken in on Tuesday, where sports director Fabio Paratici played a major role in recruiting his old Juventus colleague.

The Italian has a pretty big job on hand. With little or no coaching from Nuno or his predecessor Jose Mourinho, the Spurs have been difficult to see at the start of the season, either winning their games by small margins or being heavily defeated.

First out is a match in the Europa League Conference against Vitesse at home before a trip to Everton in the Premier League.
