How to watch Atalanta vs Man Utd on TV

Manchester United are back in the Champions League this week when they travel to northern Italy to face an Atalanta team that gave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team a real headache on match day three.

United were down 2-0 at half time and ended up with a spectacular 3-2 comeback win. But just days later, the Norwegian’s job apparently hung in a thread after a 5-0 humiliation against Liverpool.

United come into this after a comfortable victory over a pathetic Tottenham team, but this is still just the beginning of Solskjaer proving that he deserves to stay at work. Atalanta drew 2-2 with Lazio in Serie A on Saturday thanks to an equalizer in the 94th minute.

Atalanta lost players due to injury in the reverse meeting at Old Trafford last month and that situation has not really changed.

There are no Robin Gosens, Hans Hateboer, Matteo Pessina, Berat Djimsiti or Rafael Toloi available for this.

Solskjaer must decide whether to stick to the back-three system he adopted for Saturday’s decisive victory over Tottenham or return to a more conventional flat back four.

Raphael Varane will probably only make his second Champions League start of the season after returning from injury with an impressive performance this weekend. Paul Pogba is also qualified after missing the Premier League due to a domestic suspension.

Anthony Martial is still in doubt about his condition after he did not join the squad against Tottenham.

Atalanta: Musso, De Roon, Palomino, Demiral; Zappacosta, Koopmeiners, Freule, Maehle; Pasalic, Ilicic; Zapata

Man Utd: De Gea; Lindelof, Varane, Maguire; Wan-Bissaka, McTominay, Fernandes, Fred, Shaw; Ronaldo, Rashford

Last month’s match was the first and only time Atalanta and Manchester United have ever met.

It looked like there would be a reaction from the United players on Saturday when they dismantled Tottenham in the Premier League.

This will be a tougher test on the road in Europe than they faced against a Spurs team whose manager was fired a little more than 36 hours later. But Atalanta are still not at full strength, while United have more than enough quality to win if the performance is there to back it up.

Forecast: Atalanta 1-2 Man Utd
