After consecutive game weeks ravaged by Covid-19 launches, WSL saw a large decrease in positive cases during the last test round, with all six games scheduled to continue as planned over the weekend.

Last weekend was the season’s outrage so far as previously unbeaten Birmingham inflicted a first defeat on leaders Arsenal in the campaign. Manchester City also maintained their last good run with a 6-0 victory over a falling Brighton.

This weekend will be Chelsea’s first full-back in action since losing straight games to Reading in the WSL and Wolfsburg in the Champions League a month ago.

This is all you need to know about when and how to watch the games …

Manchester United come to this in a row of consecutive WSL victories in December, scoring seven goals and holding two zeros – Ella Toone, Alessia Russo and Marc Skinner all took monthly prizes as a result.

But Birmingham have shown that they can not be underestimated. The Blues finally started to get started against Arsenal last weekend to get a first victory of the season at the 11th attempt, after also driving Manchester City close not so long ago either.

Prediction: Man Utd 3-1 Birmingham

Aston Villa and Manchester City are two teams in contrasting form on their way into this, where the former also welcomes Steph Houghton and Lucy Bronze back after long injury absences since the turn of the year to strengthen them even more.

Since a bright start to the season, Villa have lost six of their last seven WSL matches, only scoring two points in the league since early October and conceding 20 in the same period. City have meanwhile won three in a row and made six last time.

Forecast: Aston Villa 0-5 Man City

With the eyes of the Champions League after a great summer of recruitment, Everton got a rude awakening when they met Chelsea already in September, and lost 4-0 after already being demolished with the same result against Manchester City a week earlier.

But while the toffees themselves may be rusty after not playing last weekend, the reverse against Chelsea may come at a good time. The champions lost consecutive league and European matches in mid-December and have not played since.

Prediction: Everton 1-2 Chelsea

Leicester failed to bounce back two WSL victories in their most recent outing after finally taking the mark in the top flight last month. However, they were barely beaten by a flying Reading and will enjoy their chances at home against a Brighton team that goes backwards.

The Seagulls started the season so well and at one stage looked like they could challenge for a Champions League place. But they have lost three in a row to suddenly slip into the bottom half and sent six goals against Manchester City just last weekend.

Prediction: Leicester 2-1 Brighton

Reading will smell blood before this and have reason to believe that they can get a positive result. Arsenal have strangely lost the road in recent months and last weekend’s shock loss to Birmingham was a fourth in their last five matches in all competitions.

The Royals have meanwhile long since put a terrible start to the season behind them and have taken 16 points from the last 18 offered to them. They have also already taken a big scalp during that run by beating Chelsea last month.

Prediction: Arsenal 1-1 Reading

Tottenham have yet to play in 2022 due to a postponement last weekend, but started the new year in a Champions League place thanks to back-to-back December wins. Conversely, at the same stage last season, they had not long taken their first victory in the campaign.

West Ham have seen their last two WSL matches fall victim to Covid-19 and will be keen to get going again. The Hammers have actually only lost twice in the league so far this season but too many draws have prevented them from climbing higher up the table.

Prediction: Tottenham 2-1 West Ham
