Jamie Vardy misses 3-4 weeks with hamstring injury

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Jamie Vardy could be out of action for up to a month after suffering a hamstring injury during Leicester City’s 1-0 win over Liverpool.

Vardy pulled up in the second half but since the foxes had already used all three substitutes he was forced into soldiers until full time.

The injury is the latest in a long line of setbacks that Leicester have had to deal with this season. On their way into the Liverpool match, they were without nine first-team players, with both starting midfielders Caglar Soyuncu and Jonny Evans sidelined.

This meant that Rodgers was forced to put Daniel Amartey and Wilfred Ndidi in defense against the high-flying Reds. This, combined with the fact that most of the rest of the starting eleven had played just over 48 hours earlier, made the victory nothing short of miraculous.

However, the feel-good factor around the club has not lasted long with Rodgers confirming that Vardy had become the latest player to take a hit.

“Jamie will be away this weekend and James Maddison [also injured against Liverpool] should be good, “he told the press.” May be the next 3-4 weeks [for Vardy]. “

In better news, Rodgers confirmed that Harvey Barnes is back in training, while Ryan Bertrand is expected to return next week. Concerns over long-term injuries James Justin and Wesley Fofana are also approaching comebacks.

With Leicester’s squad decimated by injuries, Rodgers once again demanded that the Premier League allow his teams to make five substitutions – which is allowed in the rest of Europe’s “five big” leagues.

“Yes, 100%,” Rodgers said when asked if we would prefer the rule change.

“I think for me the ability to do that would really help change things. Five subs would definitely help.

He added: “We will not get caught up in it or use injuries as an excuse. We had a fantastic victory this evening but now we have to bring it up on Saturday.

“And they will. They are fantastic guys. That focus and concentration is very important, especially during this period. We have at least a couple of days on us and we will make our final preparations for tomorrow. The players who are available will be good enough. “
