Joshua Kimmich misses the last matches of 2021 with Covid-19 complications

Bayern Munich have confirmed that Joshua Kimmich will miss his last three matches in 2021 due to covid-19 side effects.

The German midfielder had been isolated after testing positive for coronavirus and has not played since early November when Bayern beat Freiburg 2-1.

It was confirmed on Wednesday night that he was free to leave his isolation period, where board member Hasan Salihamidzic said: “Joshua has been acquitted and his quarantine period will end tonight. Then we will do more tests and see.

“We know our husband Jo [Kimmich], of course, he will give everything to return quickly. But we must decide together what is best and be sensible. “

Now a new club statement reads: “FC Bayern will play their remaining matches without Joshua Kimmich until the end of the year.”

Kimmich added: “I am glad that my corona-related quarantine has ended. I feel very well, but due to slight infiltration in my lungs I can not currently train fully. I will therefore do advanced training and can hardly wait to be completely back in January. “

The 26-year-old’s attitude to the coronavirus vaccine has been criticized. Back in October, he revealed that he had not been vaccinated against the disease and claimed that he was worried about its long-term effects, but denied that he was an anti-waxer.

Then he said: “There is a very good chance that I will still be vaccinated. It is simply that I still have some worries.”

Bayern have taken a public stand against their unvaccinated players in recent weeks, with the likes of Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala, Michael Cuisance, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Kimmich all seen their salaries docked.

Covid cases are increasing across Europe and Germany recently recorded its highest number of deaths from the disease since February, with 527 deaths reported on Wednesday along with 69,601 new infections.
