Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland described teammate Jude Bellingham as “fantastic” after England midfielder put Besiktas within the sword within the Champions League.
The 18-year-old scored Dortmund’s first objective within the 2-1 victory in Istanbul, earlier than then placing on the second for Haaland. The spectacular teenager was later named UEFA’s participant of the match.
Bellingham, who simply turned 18 in June, is now the youngest participant ever to attain in an away match within the Champions League. He can be the youngest participant to attain in consecutive Champions League matches after conceding final season’s quarter-final defeat to Manchester City.
The ex-Birmingham’s prodigy has already rapidly developed into probably the greatest midfielders in Europe.
“He was amazing,” Haaland stated in a scheduled interview.
“He’s 18 – three years younger than me – that’s crazy! What can I say? He’s amazing. He is 18 years old and plays so incredibly well. He’s amazing. ”
Bellingham was coveted by Manchester United during his breakout year in Birmingham 2019/20 – strikingly enough, he did not turn 17 until after that season had ended.

Despite the player choosing Dortmund, United have remained interested and have had regular contact with the Bundesliga to strengthen their interest. It has been a similar story with Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.
But while Haaland is likely to be on the move at the end of the season when his € 75 million clause enters into force, Dortmund do not expect to sell Bellingham next summer.
Bellingham are now under contract at Dortmund until 2025, with a new clause agreed on his 18th birthday that extended his previous contract and doubled his salary to the equivalent of around £ 100,000 a week.
