Kansas City Current announced Camille Levin as the club’s newest General Manager as of January 15.
Levin will be responsible for the overall management of the football business and will report directly to the ownership.
“We are pleased to add a person of Cami’s caliber to the current management team,” said co-owner Angie Long. “Cami is a naturally born leader with tremendous football knowledge and an expansive football network. As we continue to strive to set the standard for our sport and our league, we have no doubt that Cami will be crucial in helping us achieve our goals. ”
Levin’s experience of the sport spans two decades, and started as a collegiate and professional football player at the top level in the United States and internationally. She was part of Stanford University’s football program, along with current midfielder Lo’eau LaBonta, where they led the school to its first NCAA Championship in 2011.
She then continued to play professionally with Gothenburg (Sweden, 2012-2013) and Western Sydney Wanderers (Australia, 2013-2014).
Following the launch of NWSL, Levin returned to the United States to play for Sky Blue FC, now known as Gotham FC, before being selected by Orlando Pride in the 2015 NWSL Expansion Draft. She ended her playing career with Houston Dash 2017 and Norwegian Vålerenga 2018.
“It’s an honor to join Kansas City Current as General Manager,” she said. “I am proud to be part of an organization with an unwavering vision to become a global leader, not only in women’s football, but in sports. The Longs and Brittany Matthews continue to build an organization with a strong commitment to a” player “first” strategy, which begins with significant investment in the organization and in Kansas City.
“As a former NWSL player, I sincerely appreciate and respect the history of this league and believe in its bright future with KC at the helm. I am grateful for the opportunity and look forward to joining the team.”
After retiring, Levin continued with a career as Vice President of Blueprint Sports & Media Entertainment and Head of Talent Development for WWE.
KC Current is set to launch the 2022 campaign with a pre-season camp on February 1 and officially on March 19 when the NWSL Challenge Cup begins. The Current will play 14 home games at Children’s Mercy Park 2022.
