Since the 4-1 defeat to the Seattle Sounders on October 9, the Whitecaps have been 3-0-1, culminating in 6th place in the Western Conference table. With the playoffs race as tight as it is, every point is valuable, as the Whitecaps can either get higher in the standings or fall completely out of the playoffs before the end of the season.
LAFC: Black man; Farfan, Murillo, Fall, Edwards, Blessing; Duke, Moon-Hwan, Cifuentes; Arango, Rodriguez
Vancouver: Crepeau; Jungwirth, Godoy, Veselinovic, Dajome, Owusu; Teibert, Gaspar, Gauld; White, Caicedo
Since the California-based side joined MLS 2018, the LAFC and Vancouver Whitecaps have a straight league record of 3-3-1. Two of LA’s wins are 6-1 in 2019 and 6-0 in 2020. This season, the team drew 2-2 in Los Angeles on July 24 and Vancouver won 2-1 at home on August 21.
Both teams have been even since LAFC’s MLS debut in 2018, but when LAFC wins, they tend to win big. After the victory over Sounders last week, LAFC is one of the hottest teams in the league as the playoffs approach. Both teams are in desperate need of points with the playoffs underway, and it will be a long task for Vancouver to take down a solid LA team at home.
Prediction: LAFC 3-1 Vancouver Whitecaps FC
