Leicester transfer news: Ryan Bertrand signed confirmed

Leicester have officially announced the signing of Ryan Bertrand after signing a two-year deal with the club.

The English international has been a free agent since he recently left Southampton and ended his seven-year stay on the south coast.

Bertrand played more than 200 appearances for the Saints in all competitions, and arrived within 90 minutes after helping them to his first silver medal of the century before being delayed against Manchester United in the 2017 EFL Cup final.

After confirming that he would not extend his deal with Southampton earlier this summer, speculation has been rife as to who he would join, although the foxes have remained as predecessors.

And they have now taken to their official website to confirm the news of Bertrand’s arrival, revealing that the left-back has signed a two-year deal at King Power Stadium.

“Experienced left-back Ryan Bertrand has signed for Leicester City Football Club on a two-year deal and kept him at King Power Stadium until at least 2023,” they wrote.

The 31-year-old joins the Foxes on a free transfer after seven seasons with Southampton, where he made 240 appearances in all competitions.

“An England international with 19 caps, Bertrand made his top debut as a Chelsea player, where he would help the team lift the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League and Emirates FA Cup.”

Bertrand himself took the opportunity to express his joy at having signed for the foxes and said that he was happy to join a club with such high ambitions.

“I’m really happy to be here; joining Leicester really complemented my inner ambitions and what I still want to achieve in my career, he says.

“Leicester have built something fantastic over the years, especially since Brendan Rodgers has come in. It’s great to be a part of this fantastic club and I’ll give it my all to try and make the fans proud.”
