Manchester United’s winger Amad Diallo will loan Championship club Birmingham for the rest of the season, understand 90min.
The deal will offer the 19-year-old the chance for more ordinary first-team football and is expected to be completed at the beginning of next week.
Amad will be the third youngster from United to join Birmingham this season. Tahith Chong switched to St Andrew’s this summer but has recovered from a groin injury since October, while the teenager’s midfielder Teden Mengi secured his loan earlier this month.
United originally agreed on a deal to sign Amad from Atalanta in October 2020, with the transfer completed in January last year. He had been the first player born in 2002 to score in Serie A and his long-term potential convinced United to leave £ 19 million up front, plus a further £ 18.5 million in future additions.
Amad has so far made nine first-team appearances for United. Eight of these came last season, which also gave his first goal for the club in a Europa League match against AC Milan.

January 7, 2022 Man Utd defender Axel Tuanzebe lends to Napoli
Man Utd defender Axel Tuanzebe has made a loan to Napoli until the end of the season after the Aston Villa deal was previously broken.
He has had to overcome a thigh injury this season, which has limited his first-team opportunities so far. The youngster made a comeback at U23 level at the end of October and went on to score two goals and register an assist in a 3-2 Premier League 2 victory over Leeds shortly thereafter. He later joined the squad for a first-team victory against Arsenal in early December and then started in the Champions League group stage against Young Boys for his only senior outing this season.
Playing time is important for Amad at this stage of his career and the hope is that Birmingham will be able to provide it between now and the end of the season, while raising the quality of their squad when they want to climb up the Championship table.
