Marcelo will end his 15-year stay at Real Madrid this summer, with a free transfer to Brazilian Fluminense that looks likely.
The left-back joined Los Blancos all the way back in 2007 and will leave as an undisputed club legend.
Marcelo has made well over 500 appearances for Real in all competitions, scoring 38 goals and 101 assists – quite astonishing numbers for a defender who spent his career playing in the back four. He has helped the club win a number of major awards as well, including five La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues and four Club World Cups.
In recent times, however, Marcelo has become a more marginal figure in the first team. In recent seasons, a combination of injuries, poor form and the appearance of Ferland Mendy has limited his playing time, with the Brazilian only 16 times in La Liga last campaign.
This has been followed by only a handful of appearances this term and with his contract expiring this summer, AS reports that the defender’s days in the Spanish capital are numbered.

The club is not considering offering him new terms with Marcelo, who is expected to return to the boys’ side Fluminense, which he left to join Real back in 2007.
The 33-year-old will be eager to leave the Santiago Bernabeu at a high level, and he has a good chance of doing so if his team can maintain its current form.
Real are currently top of La Liga, eight points ahead of second-placed Sevilla, after losing just one of their first 16 matches. They also advanced to the Champions League round of 16 and secured the top spot in their group with a 2-0 victory over ten-man Inter on the last match day.
