Mauricio Pochettino provides updates on PSG’s future among Man Utd links

Mauricio Pochettino has insisted he is happy at Paris Saint-Germain and he is not responsible for reports linking him to a move to Manchester United.

90min understands that Pochettino would be willing to succeed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford immediately after the Norwegian’s departure.

But the former Spurs boss has emphasized that he is happy with life in the French capital ahead of PSG’s crunching Champions League clash against Manchester City.

“I’m happy in Paris,” Pochettino told RMC Sport. “I know the city well both as a player and as a coach, I have always lived in this type of situation.”

He added: “I’m not a child, I’m not a child. I spend my whole life playing football and now 12 years as a coach, we are in a business where the rumors are there, I fully understand … me” I’m not distracted. Rumors are there and we have to live with that. “

Pochettino was highly praised for being open to returning to Tottenham during the summer and failed to tone down those reports at the time. But he said in an interview with the Guardian last week that the reason for this was that he was not the one who put fuel in the fire and therefore did not feel it was appropriate to comment on speculation.

It seems to remain his mentality regarding the connections to Man Utd, and adds: “Things happen and it is not my responsibility. What I will say if you ask me is that I am happy in Paris.”

But when asked if he would like to sign his contract with PSG, he remained shy and said: “Football is about the present.”

While Pochettino has reiterated his desire to stay at the Parc des Princes, it was reported on Tuesday that United have begun talks with Ernesto Valverde about becoming interim manager.

The 57-year-old was fired after two and a half seasons in Barcelona in early 2020 and won two La Liga titles during his time at Camp Nou.

90min also understands that Leicester’s manager Brendan Rodgers would be willing to take over full time if asked.
