Mikel Arteta addresses Bukayo Sakas’ transfer rumors

Mikel Arteta has raised rumors linking Bukayo Saka to a move from the club and says the Arsenal star should be “proud” of the speculation.

Saka has had a wonderful first half of the Premier League season 2021/22, and consolidated his position as one of the Gunners’ key men with six goals and four assists in the league. The youngster’s achievements have helped Arsenal to the top four at halfway through the campaign – ahead of those like Tottenham Hotspur and Man Utd in the table.

Due to these impressive performances, Saka has – inevitably – been the subject of transfer rumors in recent weeks. The team that has been linked with a move for the English national team player is Liverpool, who are said to be monitoring his situation at Arsenal.

When Arteta was asked about these rumors, Arteta deleted them and said that the reports are just proof of how well Saka has played recently (via the Daily Mirror): “I think it’s great news when you have a lot of talk and people who are willing for your player, that’s a really good sign.

“They should be proud because it means they are doing an extremely good job.”

Arteta also took the time to praise Saka and said that he is pleased with the improvements of his game: “I am really pleased with Bukayo, and with what he does, with how he develops and the importance he has in the team.

“The most important thing is the impact he can make in every game. This is something we want to continue to improve in every game, because he has the capacity to do that.”
