Mikel Arteta is excited to fight Antonio Conte at Tottenham

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta believes that the Premier League is now stronger thanks to the arrival of Antonio Conte to Tottenham.

A multiple title winner with Juventus, Chelsea and Inter, Conte joined Tottenham earlier this week as a replacement for Nuno Espirito Santo, who left Spurs in ninth place in the Premier League after ten games in charge.

The excitement at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is palpable, and Arteta admitted that he is looking forward to testing his skills against one of the game’s best managers.

“We know he has a really successful past in the last two places he has been and we will see what he does here,” said Arteta (via football.london).

“I think it will be [harder] for all teams fighting for the top spots. There are still so many matches left and a lot will happen. You see games, performances and how things vary from one half to the other or moments in the game. It tells you what quality there is when it comes to players and managers as well.

“I’m really happy to be where I am, to enjoy this incredible league, the set-up, the atmosphere, the passion and that everyone is back to normal. It’s probably the most competitive season the Premier League has ever had.”

Conte joins Jurgen Klopp, Thomas Tuchel and Pep Guardiola as one of the most decorated coaches of the match, and Arteta admitted that the quality of the staff in the Premier League helps to make the English game the best there is.

“I can think of many, many more who are in top clubs that are world-leading managers,” he continued. “But I think it is very positive for our league because it raises the level, because he has new ideas and because it makes the competition even tougher.

“But we must also remember that we have some really good examples with Neil Warnock, with David [Moyes] and what they have done in the game. For example, Neil beat most games in history, David made 1,000 appearances. We can not lose it because it is very related to the history of this league and they have done so much in this match for us as well. “
