New England Revolution presents a new weapon for the 2022 season

The New England Revolution has unveiled weapons that will front their new brand identity from the start of the 2022 Major League Soccer season.

Thursday’s revelation comes as a small surprise with the new weapon that was leaked on social media some time ago, but it marks the culmination of a re-profiling process that started as far back as 2019.

Rev’s iconic “Crayon Flag” – the last remaining original weapon in the MLS – will be phased out at the end of the 2021 campaign, during which Bruce Arena’s men have already sealed the Supporters’ Shield title with their points record during the regular season.

“We are proud of our history as a founding member club of Major League Soccer, and after more than 25 years, we felt that developing our brand identity was an important step in continuing our club’s upward trajectory and better reflecting our growth and ambitions as a organization, ”said Revolutionary President Brian Bilello.

“We started this process several years ago with an open mind as we sought the voices of our fans and supporters to guide us in this process.”

According to the club, the new weapon roots the club’s identity in the defiant and patriotic spirit of the American Revolution.

Although New England will receive a visual makeover, the club will retain the “Revolution” name, unlike other new brands from CF Montreal (formerly Impact) and Columbus, which only retained “Crew” after intense backlash from supporters.

It’s time.

“Consensus rang out loud and clear – our fans were deeply connected to the New England Revolution’s name and did not want to see it change,” said Cathal Conlon, Revolution’s Vice President of Marketing and Community Engagement.

“We took that feeling to heart and every decision that followed during the design process was rooted in that feedback, as we searched for elements and inspiration that evoked the spirit of the revolution, positive defiance and New England’s rich history. We are pleased with the result and look forward to see this new identity come to life on the field and in society for many years to come. ”

On the field, the Revs want to be the first team since Toronto FC 2017 to win the MLS Cup and Supporters’ Shield double.
