Newcastle predicted the line-up against Cambridge

Eddie Howe will welcome the break from the Premier League when Newcastle host Cambridge in the third round of the FA Cup.

The Magpies last tasted lifted this piece of silver all the way back in 1955, with the record becoming a reflection of the neglect inflicted on the club in recent years.

Although top-class survival is far from certain, Newcastle loyalists hope the arrival of new owners marks a change in attitudes towards domestic silver.

This is how the magpies could line up.

Javier Manquillo (RB) – Usually he stands on the left side, but he can benefit from playing on his favorite side this weekend.

Ciaran Clark (CB) – Has lost his place in the team but he can replace Fabian Schar this weekend.

Jamaal Lascelles (CB) – Will be keen to retain his place on the team with Newcastle linked to a host of midfielders.

Matt Ritchie (LB) – Shined under Howe in Bournemouth but has been missing recently after testing positive for Covid-19.
