Olivier Giroud moves to Milan edges closer

Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud is expected to fly to Milan soon where he will complete medical treatment before his move to I Rossoneri is confirmed.

The Frenchman has never really cemented his place in the Blues’ start XI since he switched from Arsenal in January 2018, although he has contributed with some big goals during his three and a half years at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea want to freshen up their attacking options this summer, with 90 minutes recently revealed that they are willing to spend up to 150 million pounds to secure the signing of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland.

Their quest for the Norwegian international means they are keen to move some of their existing strike force forward, and the Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Giroud will soon fly to Italy before moving to Milan.

When a medical formality is out of the way, the 34-year-old striker will sign a two-year deal at the San Siro with Chelsea that will receive £ 1 million plus surcharges from the sale.

The news means that the curtain is being drawn on Giroud’s famous nine-year-old spell in England. After moving to Arsenal from Montpellier in 2012, the French international’s time with the Gunners and then Chelsea would see him win four FA Cups, a Europa League and most recently a Champions League.

Giroud may not be the only Chelsea striker on his way to the front door of Stamford Bridge, with reports circulating that Tammy Abraham has been offered a host of clubs as Chelsea appear to be generating transfers.

Tottenham, Inter and Dortmund are said to have been contacted by the Blues regarding the sale of Abraham, but at the moment Arsenal seem most interested.

The Gunners have taken a number of players from Chelsea in recent seasons, including David Luiz, Willian and Petr Cech, and it looks like Abraham may be the latest to join the list.

The Blues value their academy candidate at £ 40 million and it remains to be seen whether Mikel Arteta is willing to hand out such a large sum to secure the services of the English international.
