Paris Saint-Germain predicted the line-up against Lyon

Paris Saint-Germain return to Ligue 1 action on Sunday night and travel to Lyon for their first league match after the winter break.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team looked better and better ahead of Christmas, although they ended the first half of their campaign with a characteristically sad, uninspiring and desperately disappointing 1-1 draw with relegation-threatened Lorient. They reacted well with a break by elritsa Vannes in the Coupe de France, but this is a completely different matter.

The manager’s squad has been hampered by invitations from the African Championship and a number of isolations due to Covid, but PSG still has lots of superstars waiting for the call.

This is how PSG can line up.

Keylor Navas (GK) – Gianluigi Donnarumma will be absent after a positive Covid-19 result, so Navas should be sure to take first place for this one.

Colin Dagba (RB) – Achraf Hakimi is away in the African Cup of Nations, so Dagba can step in on the right side of the defense.

Marquinhos (CB) – Undoubtedly one of the club’s most crucial assets, the Brazilian midfielder is set for a sixth straight Ligue 1 start here.

Presnel Kimpembe (CB) – Kimpembe, who is constantly evolving into a top-class central defender, should retain his place next to the skipper despite Sergio Ramo’s return from suspension.

Juan Bernat (LB) – Seems to be favored for league issues rather than the lively Nuno Mendes.

Georginio Wijnaldum (CENTIMETER) – In truth, he does not look very comfortable or energetic in a PSG shirt, but he will probably continue his series starts here.

Leandro Paredes (CM) – A warrior-like presence in midfield, Paredes is the obvious choice to anchor the side – especially in the absence of both Danilo Paredes (Covid-19) and Idrissa Gueye (AFCON).

Marco Verratti (CM) – In his day, there are very few better midfielders in the game.

Lionel Messi (RW) – His recently returned negative Covid-19 result means the magician will be available for his side’s clash with Lyon.

Mauro Icardi (ST) – Angel Di Maria’s Covid-19 forced absence and Neymar’s continued injury problems will give Icardi a fresh start here.

Kylian Mbappe (LW) – Paris darling, Paris talisman, Paris hero – until he goes to Real Madrid. Mbappe is curious about a hat-trick to get his season mark to 18 goals and 15 assists in 25 games in all competitions – he will probably start.
