Paul Scholes hits Man Utd’s coach after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fired

Paul Scholes has not taken any action when he discussed the current situation in his former club Manchester United after the dismissal of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer was finally relieved of his duties on Sunday after a heated form that culminated in a humiliating 4-1 loss away to Premier League side Watford – a result that proved to be the drop in the United hierarchy.

Former assistant manager Michael Carrick has become interim manager of the Red Devils as the club looks for a suitable temporary manager to review them until the end of the season, when a permanent appointment will be made. Coaches Kieran McKenna and Mike Phelan have been retained as assistants.

Scholes – who is Carrick’s former teammate and played under Phelan when he was Sir Alex Ferguson’s right hand man – has, however, criticized Solskjaer’s coaching staff for not also leaving Old Trafford.

Speaking on BT Sport ahead of Carrick’s first match against Villarreal in the Champions League, Scholes said: “You ask the question” will they get better tonight? “These are the same people who run the team.

“Probably more Kieran McKenna and Michael Carrick have prepared the team. So how it changes now I do not know.”

He continued: “I would be ashamed to be on the staff now. I think they [Carrick, McKenna, Phelan] everyone should have walked, kicked or walked by themselves.

“I would almost be ashamed to be on the staff now, I think they should all have left.”

“Ole trusted them every week, they have let the club down just as much.”

“They were part of Ole’s team, he trusted them every week to prepare a team for matches. They have let the club down as much as Ole [Gunnar Solskjaer] has.

“If I were in their position now, I would still feel guilty when I worked in this football club when Ole trusted them so much.”
