Pep Guardiola claims that winning with Man City means more than for his previous clubs

Pep Guardiola has claimed that it means more to him to win in Manchester City than in his previous clubs because they have fought against the traditional hierarchy of football.

Guardiola saw their team finally cross to a 4-1 Champions League group stage victory over Club Brugge at the Etihad Stadium to put a foot in the knockout round with two games left to play.

They got help from PSG losing points against RB Leipzig, which made it possible for City to go to the top of the group.

But despite the favorable result in Germany, Guardiola insisted that there are no benefits, suggesting that his club in particular does not get any easy rides at all due to the recent successes.

“What we have done [in] these years, I promise you, no one will help you – no one. Everything we have done, we have done it, and that is why I am so happy, says the City Manager to BT Sport.

When pressed, the former coach of Barcelona and Bayern Munich even suggested that it is more special to win at City as his former clubs have been part of the established elite.

“When you’re at big clubs, I understand, maybe … But here, no. What we win, we do [ourselves].

“I know, perfect. That’s why all the titles I’ve won before, I’ve won at big clubs.

“Absolutely … the pleasure is [more], struggling to beat the Premier League hierarchy. “

“I promise you, when you’re in Manchester City you realize no one’s helping you.”

No services from Leipzig or any other side, Pep Guardiola takes great satisfaction from every City win, especially in Europe.

City improved significantly as the match against Bruges progressed. They had dominated the ball throughout the first half but lacked enough edge to make the ball possession count, while looking passive and offensive at the back.

But Guardiola insisted that his team could not have played better in the first 20 minutes.

“I do not know if we can play better than the first 20 minutes, honestly,” he said. “It was really good, the transitions, the aggressiveness. After [Brugge] goals, said the players ‘minds,’ we do everything and once they [get a chance], they make a goal ‘. Yes, but that’s life, right?

“Life is like this, how to overcome that position. Even our fans said ‘Oh, we’ve conceded a goal’. Yes, but we’re trying again. We still had 70 minutes on us. To just do what we have done, that’s enough. ”
