Phil Neville reacts to Toronto FC win


Inter Miami head coach Phil Neville has admitted that the 1-0 victory over Toronto FC was “painful” to look at, however praised his gamers for the perseverance that gave the South Florida aspect their fourth straight in a row.

Midfielder Christian Makoun made the dramatic stoppage time winner from the penalty spot after 90 minutes of passive play from either side.

After the match, Neville mentioned: “It felt like a painful match because we did not play well at all … but in the end pride as they continue to the end, they continue to fight and continue to fight, they find a way to win.

“I believe there aren’t many groups in the complete Major League Soccer that scored as many targets late as we have now, so we hold our ft firmly on the bottom.”

Despite their remarkable performance, Inter Miami managed to stretch their unbeaten streak to six and improve their position at the Eastern Conference table immensely.

The South Florida side is now in fifth place with 32 points in 23 games and a record of 9-4-9, and moved into a playoff position after spending most of the 2021 season in the bottom half of the MLS standings.

The team had a rocky couple of weeks that lost a six-match streak before they could recover and climb the table. Now Inter Miami must maintain its momentum for the remaining 11 games of the regular season to lock its place for the post-season.

The playoffs in Major League Soccer 2021 begin on November 19 when the seven greatest golf equipment from every convention meet within the month-long match.
