Austin FC’s head coach Josh Wolff was livid after a 3-0 defeat to Houston Dynamo – the workforce’s third loss in a row when the workforce is at the underside of the Western Conference.
Wolff blamed the gamers for the dearth of depth and focus on the pitch that led to their downfall on Saturday.
“Unacceptable. Completely unacceptable,” says Wolff.
“On many levels, unacceptable. Player responsibility, intensity when the ball is in play, just the general behavior of some of our players at the beginning of the game is unacceptable. We talked about what this game would be, a team that had not won on 16 matches, an intensity level that you must have first to go on the field in this league to compete.
The players did not feel much better about the situation and acknowledged that the team must find its identity to avoid a further downward spiral.
“I’m ashamed, how the outcomes have gone at house and the way they proceed to journey – we don’t deserve them in the meanwhile,” said Ring. “We have to seek out ourselves and now we have to repair the ship as a result of it is not ok. It’s that straightforward.”
Wolff claimed that the mentality and focus will change before the next match on Wednesday against LAFC.
With 19 points from 23 games, Austin FC must surpass opponents to enter the battle for a playoff position in Major League Soccer 2021.
“The start line for all that is the mentality and mindset of what it takes to get on the pitch,” Wolff said. “These guys have performed quite a few video games. Guys who’ve been an element of our league, guys who haven’t been an element of our league, have performed sufficient video games to know what’s required in MLS. There is simply too a lot softness. on the market, not profitable tackles, not competing, flopping round on the bottom.
“It’s unacceptable and these guys will have to dig in and so are we as staff, and that’s what this’s about. We’ll get the guys ready for the next match on Wednesday.”
