Premier League: Chelsea vs Burnley preview images

4

Chelsea host Burnley at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon, as the Blues look set to continue their fine Premier League form.

Thomas Tuchel’s team came in a draw after a Champions League victory in Malmö, which was the Blues’ seventh straight victory in all competitions. During that time, they have scored 20 goals and conceded only two, recording a 7-0 win over Norwich.

It does not bode well for the opponents on Saturday. Burnley are in the relegation zone after winning just once in the league all season – although that victory came in their last outing and beat Brentford 3-1. Overall, Sean Dyche’s team has been largely invalid of any quality and is deservedly in 18th place, three points behind safety.

He’s a 90 minute preview of what appears to be a rather unbalanced match up.

Strikers Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner will again both be unavailable but, as Norwich can tell Burnley, there is no reason to relax. Kai Havertz is likely to lead the way in the absence of his colleagues once again.

Mateo Kovacic is also undisputed due to injury, while Mason Mount remains in doubt due to illness.

Otherwise, the Blues should line up in much the same way they did last weekend in the Premier League, with the devastating wingback pair Reece James and Ben Chilwell regaining their starting places after resting in the middle of the week.

Dyche revealed earlier this week that Dale Stephens would remain sidelined for this match, while Aaron Lennon is insecure due to illness.

Elsewhere, the Burnley boss has no worries, which probably means the same starting line-up that won a major victory over Brentford last time.

Chelsea: Mendy; Azpilicueta, Silva, Rudiger; James, Kante, Jorginho, Chilwell; Ziyech, Havertz, Hudson-Odoi.

Burnley: Pope; Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor; Gudmundsson, Brownhill, Westwood, McNeil; Wood, Cornet.

No prices for guessing what to read.

Burnley actually played well last week. They were resilient and threatened when they carried the ball upwards. Unfortunately, things have not really fallen as they should yet, but with Maxwell Cornet adding a little flair and mercury quality to their forward line, they have a very good chance of turning their season around in the coming weeks.

However, do not expect the resuscitation to begin on Saturday. Chelsea is a machine.

Burnley are by no means pushovers, but we do not expect this Blues’ children’s storming to end recently this weekend.

Prediction: Chelsea 3-0 Burnley
