Premier League previews and predictions: Game Week 11

4

Before we say goodbye to domestic action for another international break, the Premier League is set to give us a series of brilliant farewell gifts.

There are several outstanding clashes to look forward to during Game Week 11, which begins with a lower table between Southampton and Aston Villa on Friday night.

This is followed by the choice of matches at Saturday lunch, the Manchester derby, while Crystal Palace vs Wolves and West Ham vs Liverpool both promise to be firmer.

Here’s everything you need to know before this weekend’s action …

We start with a trip to the south coast where Southampton will host Aston Villa on Friday night.

On paper, this is not the most glamorous match but it is important – especially for Villa boss Dean Smith. Smith is under pressure to get his abundance of summer signings underway, but after four losses on the spin, he will probably just settle for keeping it tight against the Saints.

OOOOOHHHHHH, THAT’S THE GREAT!

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done enough to keep his job at the moment but yet another achievement against a rival similar to the one his team did during their 5-0 loss to Liverpool recently and he will be under more pressure than ever.

At least his accusations are turned against a City team that has lined up with some stuttering performances in recent times, and crashed out of the Carabao Cup to West Ham – as United also did earlier this season – before losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace last .

Despite these shaky results, Pep Guardiola’s team is still much, much, much better than their Manchester rivals and should secure victory.

Two points, three goals and 25 conceded. These numbers tell the story of Norwich’s first ten Premier League games this season and they already look hopeless at the bottom of the table.

Their tormentor this week is Brentford. Bina has not won any of its last five meetings with Norwich, but we should see that change on Saturday.

Chelsea have very good resources. Burnley do not have very good resources.

Shockingly, we have gone for a home win here. The fact that Burnley have lost six of their last seven meetings with Chelsea does not help their case either.

Neither Crystal Palace nor Wolves have lost in their previous five Premier League matches with new coaches Patrick Vieira and Bruno Lage defying their pre-season expectations so far.

However, something has to give at Selhurst Park on Saturday ?! No, it actually does not. This evenly matched pair will most likely play a draw.

Newcastle have yet to enjoy a new manager’s brace under interim manager Graeme Jones and things will not get any easier with his squad to take the long journey south to face Brighton on Saturday night.

The Seagulls have not been quite as electric as they were at the start of the campaign, drawing four of their last five games, but they are still a strong outfit, as evidenced by their impressive points against Liverpool last weekend.

In the end, they should ignore the omnishambles who are Newcastle United without too much hassle.

It’s (almost) the London exchange!

Arsenal have finally clicked in gear recently under Mikel Arteta, but whether this is another false dawn remains to be seen.

Momentum is the key in football and the Gunners will be keen to make a professional performance against Watford to prove they are the real deal. Or at least the kind of “real deal” that could end up among the top seven again.

Prediction: Arsenal 2-0 Watford

Ladies and gentlemen, Antonio Conte is back in the Premier League. This is a coup from Tottenham and the Italian taskmaster will try to get a good start against a stuttering Everton team.

Three consecutive losses have put Toffees in tenth place in the table after an impressive start. With Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Yerry Mina and Abdoulaye Doucoure still out of injury, they could fight to break that streak against Spurs.

Prediction: Everton 1-2 Tottenham

Leeds and Leicester have had leaky defenses this season and since they both like to play open football, we should have a decent spectacle on Sunday.

They beat each other once every season, but we think the foxes have a better chance of taking out the prey this time.

Prediction: Leeds 2-3 Leicester

Seeing us through to the international break is a top match between West Ham and Liverpool.

The Reds got a big blow in the build-up when Roberto Firmino joined their long injury list, while West Ham may be tired after their Europa League trips on Thursday.

Liverpool have been superb this season and can set a new club record for unbeaten games if they avoid defeat. We expect them to do just that, too.

Prediction: West Ham 1-2 Liverpool
