Paris Saint-Germain has joined the hunt for Reim’s fantastic forward Hugo Ekitike, 90min understand.
Newcastle United opened talks for Ekitike last week, which was revealed by 90min, and manager Eddie Howe has made it clear to the club’s hierarchy that he wants the 19-year-old to be their next attacking purchase following the arrival of Chris Wood from Burnley on Thursday.
Newcastle and Reims have been locked in talks for much of the week, and they are ongoing. The player himself has made it clear through intermediaries that he would like to accept the challenge offered at St. James’ Park.
Both Brighton and Brentford had also approached, while West Ham and Tottenham are believed to have monitored the player – but no one offered the conditions that Newcastle were and are willing to go to.
There is also rival interest from abroad and sources have told 90min that PSG has contacted Ekitike’s representatives. Les Parisiens sees the striker as a possible long-term replacement for Kylian Mbappe – who is generally expected to join Real Madrid this summer.

Ironically, Ekitike – who has been compared to Mbappe for his style of play – considers the French national team player as his hero, and has talked about the possibility of following in his footsteps.
When he spoke to Foot Mercato at the end of last year, Reims’ youngster revealed that he had great respect for Mbappe, and now he can quit as his long-term replacement.
“In recent years, he is the player I watch the most, who inspires me, and not necessarily just on the pitch,” said the teenager.
