Pulisic in the squad for the Malmö match

Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Christian Pulisic has traveled with the Chelsea squad for Tuesday’s Champions League match with Malmö.

Pulisic has not played for Chelsea since the season’s opening match, after which he suffered from covid-19 and suffered an ankle injury that has caused the winger to miss Chelsea’s last 12 matches in all competitions.

He returned to training last week, with the upcoming Premier League match with Burnley designated as a possible return date for Pulisic, but Tuchel has now confirmed that the 23-year-old may be back a few days earlier.

“The good news is that Christian Pulisic is back in the squad and fighting for tomorrow,” he told a news conference.

Unfortunately, Pulisic will not be joined by midfielder Mason Mount, who missed this weekend’s 3-0 win over Newcastle due to illness and has not yet returned to training.

“To stop all speculation, it is not COVID, Mason is negative to COVID,” Tuchel confirmed. “He’s just sick, he does not feel well enough to be part of the training or the trip to Malmö.”

Elsewhere, there are no surprises for Tuchel to wrestle with. Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku are both sidelined, while midfielder Mateo Kovacic is also out with the hamstring injury that kept him out of the trip to St James’ Park.

Chelsea enter Tuesday’s match second in Group H, after leader Juventus with three points as a result of their defeat in Turin earlier in the season.

The Blues revealed Malmö just a few weeks ago and are shooting high for a 4-0 victory at Stamford Bridge thanks to goals from Andreas Christensen, Kai Havertz and a couple of Jorginho penalties, and they will expect a similar result this time .

“We had it now quite often, the fifth or sixth game in a row where we are considered favorites,” Tuchel continued. “We worked very, very hard. We do not give too much to the genuine opinion that we are favorites but we prove it on the pitch, it is absolutely necessary tomorrow.

“When you say, quite rightly, Malmö needs extraordinary achievements. I think they will prepare for this. All teams at this type of level are ready to create and extraordinary achievements. We should be prepared, be humble and respectful enough. against the match and opponents.Anything can happen. These Champions League level matches have nothing to lose.

“Malmo can play with a lot of freedom, a lot of courage. They will be supported by an emotional crowd. These are the things we have to face. This is not the first time. We will try to influence our team as we approach the matches in the same way as last weeks. “
