Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick has stated that he wants to develop Mason Greenwood “physically and mentally”.
Greenwood led the line for United during Wednesday night’s 1-1 Champions League draw with Young Boys and scored his fifth goal of the season with an impromptu acrobatic volley.
It was the youngster’s first start since a recent short period alongside covid-19 and he was impressive throughout the competition at Old Trafford.
Rangnick has long been known for player development and oversaw Red Bull Salzburg’s football activities when Erling Haaland joined the club from Molde in Norway.
There has been a huge hope that Greenwood will move on to a world-class level ever since he broke into United’s first team in 2019. Rangnick is sure that with the right coaching it will be possible.
“He is a huge talent. Left foot, right foot, good on the ball, also in the way he set the goal for Fred on Sunday,” the head of the Manchester Evening News was quoted as saying.
“Still, it’s about continuity, he has to develop physically but technically, for his age, he’s a great player. My job is to develop him, to make him an athlete, and if he succeeds, he can become a regular player for it. this club.
“Sometimes he does not look a bit on an athletic level. I think we have to develop him there physically, but technically all the things he can do with the ball are outstanding.
“I’m not so worried about his technical level. We need to develop him physically and mentally and if we succeed he can become a regular player and an invaluable player for our club in the future.”
